Hollywood bids adieu to Sean Connery

London: Sir Sean Connery, aged 90, the famous James Bond, passed away hours ago. The Scottish actor had essayed the role of James Bond in seven thrillers.  The actor’s son, Jason Connery confirmed his father’s death. According to him, “We are all working at understanding this huge event as it only happened so recently, even though my dad has been unwell for some time. A sad day for all who knew and loved my dad and a sad loss for all people around the world who enjoyed the wonderful gift he had as an actor.”

Reportedly, Connery breathed his last, peacefully in his sleep. The actor passed away in his Bahamas residence. His son had confirmed that the James Bond actor was “unwell for some time”.

 A Great Legacy Behind

Sean Connery leaves an impressive career behind which has gained the appreciation of critics worldwide. Connery shot to fame playing the Bond career in the thriller, “Dr. No”. Connery also worked with exceptional directors, including Alfred Hitchcock. Connery earned an Oscar for Chicago cop role in the acclaimed “The Untouchables”.

The James Bond series’ producers lamented the actor’s death. The producers said, “He was and shall always be remembered as the original James Bond whose indelible entrance into cinema history began when he announced those unforgettable words “The name’s Bond… James Bond” — he revolutionized the world with his gritty and witty portrayal of the sexy and charismatic secret agent.

They added, “He is undoubtedly largely responsible for the success of the film series and we shall be forever grateful to him.”

Daniel Craig, who essays the current Bond roles also offered his condolence on the actor’s death. Craig said, “The wit and charm he portrayed on screen could be measured in megawatts; he helped create the modern blockbuster. He will continue to influence actors and film-makers alike for years to come”.
